Rosie Allen Leaves Afternoon News Slot At KGO
January 5, 2010 at 4:30 AM (PT)
CITADEL Talk KGO-A/SAN FRANCISCO's ROSIE ALLEN, who celebrated 25 years with the station in 2009, has exited from her post as afternoon co-anchor, reports the SAN FRANCISCO PENINSULA PRESS CLUB. The item quotes an e-mail from News Dir. KEN BERRY to the staff, reading, "ROSIE has been a terrific anchor, a dear friend and a great representative for KGO Radio. We plan to continue using ROSIE in commercials, personal appearances and as a fill in for talk. We will have an on-air send off for ROSIE in the near future."
ALLEN started her career at crosstown KNEW-A, then moved to KNBR-A and joined then-KGO sister station KSFX as Public Affairs Director in 1977, also doing weekends at KGO that year. She became co-anchor of the afternoon KGO news in 1984, most recently paired with BRET BURKHART.
ALLEN will be appearing on RONN OWENS' show 11-noon PT WEDNESDAY. Contrary to the PRESS CLUB's original report, ALLEN is not retiring and will continue to be heard on the station.
