ALPHA BROADCASTING's PORTLAND cluster will hold a radiothon to raise funds for the relief effort in HAITI on TUESDAY (1/19). The benefit is scheduled to air 6a-7p PT on Triple A KINK, Country KUPL, Active Rock KUFO, Sports KXTG (95.5 THE GAME), Talk KXL-A, and Talk KCMD-A (FREEDOM 970) and will raise donations for MERCY CORPS.
"We were so moved by the footage we’ve seen and stories being reported by caregivers and survivors, that we just felt we had to find a way to help," said SCOTT MAHALICK, Director of Music Programming. "Our listeners have always shown incredible generosity when it comes to helping people in need and we’re confident that this effort will provide badly needed resources to MERCY CORPS."
"The situation in HAITI is heart-wrenching and getting the help down there quickly is of utmost urgency," added Dir. of Talk Programming BRIAN JENNINGS. "We’ve been reporting on this story from every angle since it broke, and it’s going to take an extraordinary amount of resources to do what’s necessary, just in terms of medical supplies, food, water, shelter. I don’t think we can even fathom the devastation, but we can help using the power of our collective airwaves."
