More than 83 million people tuned in FRIDAY night for at least a portion of the HOPE FOR HAITI NOW telethon, reports THE LOS ANGELES TIMES. The fundraiser had an average audience of more than 24 million viewers and pulled in at least $61 million in pledges from the general public.
GEORGE CLOONEY and MTV NETWORKS were hosts of the event to help survivors of the devastating JANUARY 12th earthquake that rocked HAITI.
Corporate and large private donations have yet to be tallied, which along with final sales on iTUNES, will provide the total amount raised by the telethon.
