New marketing techniques, social networking and digital delivery were just some of the topics on the minds of independent artists and musicians who attended the 9th annual “I’ve Made a Record…Now What?” career seminar.
The seminar was presented by the publishers of the weekly TEXAS MUSIC CHART and monthly BEST IN TEXAS Music Magazine, held in HOUSTON yesterday (1/27).
TONY VAN VEEN, President of DISC MAKERS, the nation’s leading independent disc manufacturer, talked about how to achieve success with an artist’s music and gave eleven steps that they could act on immediately.
These steps included reminding artists that their fans are their customers and they should be treated that way by offering them value for their buck. He also stressed how important it was for a musician to be everywhere, i.e. on FACEBOOK, MYSPACE, iLIKE and other social media networks.
Some of the other topics discussed by our panels of experts included radio with KEN MURRAY of WHITEHEAD Country KTTX (KTEX 106)/BRENHAM, TX, radio promotion with JENNI FINLAY of JENNI FINLAY PROMOTIONS and uses of new media with ROB DENNIS of SUPER LOUD MUSIC.
When asked for their take of the seminar, one seminar registrant commented the seminar was, “Great direction for artists without much experience!” For more on the seminar, visit www.texasmusicchart.com.
