According to the ASSOCIATED PRESS, ROUNDER RECORDS artist WILLIE NELSON canceled a NORTH CAROLINA concert last THURSDAY (01/28) because of an issue with his hand. NELSON had carpal tunnel surgery on his left hand in 2004. About an hour before the cancellation, several band and crew members were busted for allegedly possessing moonshine and marijuana.
ERNIE SENECA, an ALCOHOL LAW ENFORCEMENT spokesman, said FRIDAY (01/29) that six members of NELSON's band and crew were charged with misdemeanor possession offenses. They were issued citations on THURSDAY (01/28). Bass player DAN EDWARD "BEE" SPEARS and five others were charged with possession of non-tax paid alcohol and two of the six were also charged with marijuana possession.
