SOVEREIGN COMMUNICATIONS is buying eleven stations from NORTHERN STAR BROADCASTING on MICHIGAN's UPPER PENINSULA, reports the SAULT STE. MARIE EVENING NEWS.
The deal, described as a "multi-million dollar" transation by the paper, includes Top 40 WYSS (YES! FM), Country WMKD (BIG COUNTRY 105.5), and Talk WKNW-A/SAULT STE. MARIE; Rock WUPK (THE BEAR), Talk WDMJ-WIAN, Oldies WNGE (Oldies 99.5) and Country WJPD/MARQUETTE-ISHPEMING; AC WZNL (Z94.3)/NORWAY, MI; and Rock WIMK (THE BEAR) and Talk WMIQ-A/IRON MOUNTAIN, MI. SOVEREIGN presently owns AC-Sports WSOO-A, Classic Country WNBY-A, Oldies WNBY-F (OLDIES 93), and Rock WSUE (ROCK 101)/SAULT STE, MARIE.
SOONEWS.CA reports that several personalities have exited the cluster with the sale, including JASON MAPES, MELISSA KRAHNKE, PAUL "JUNIOR" VANWAGONER, and SCOTT NASON.
