No sooner had KATZ MEDIA GROUP CEO STU OLDS noted that radio sales is enjoying a turnaround (see POWER PLAYER interview for details), NEW NORTHWEST BROADCASTERS has announced that its Q1 national business is trending up by 24%, while regional business is up 10% for its 31 stations.
"Advertisers seem to be returning to proven ways to grow their brand, NEW NORTHWEST Pres./CEO TRILA BUMSTEAD said. "In increasing number, advertisers are discovering there is a fundamental difference between hits on a website and radio's ability to facilitate actual sales."
BUMSTEAD also credited the group's change of ratings vendors as a reason for the uptick. "We moved to EASTLAN in our three rated markets," she said. "We reduced our research costs significantly in the transition and experienced an overwhelming response from the buying community ... We invested the money save on the EASTLAN transition back in our operation and thanks to the hard work of our people at NNB, we are already reaping the benefits as the sales numbers released to day indicate."
