CBS RADIO News WCBS-A (NEWSRADIO 880)/NEW YORK has signed a multi-year agreement with UNIVISION RADIO’s WADO-A for Spanish-language play-by-play broadcasts of the 27-time World Champion NEW YORK YANKEES. WADO-A will feature all 162 home and away games, as well as any postseason contests.
WCBS-A, the YANKEES flagship station since 2002, produces both the English- and Spanish-language game coverage hosted by veteran broadcasters JOHN STERLING and SUZYN WALDMAN, and BETO VILLA and FRANCISCO RIVERA, respectively.
In addition, as part of the new agreement both stations will partner on a number of on-air and in-stadium promotions, and create additional NEW YORK YANKEES specialty programs to further serve their audiences.
"We are thrilled to be able to place the Yankees Spanish play-by-play on such a great heritage radio station as WADO 1280," WCBS VP/GM STEVE SWENSON said. "BETO VILLA is the premier Spanish baseball broadcaster in the country and more residents in the tri-state will now hear his great calls."
"We are thrilled to welcome the NEW YORK YANKEES to WADO-A,” WADO Station Mgr. CAREY DAVIS noted. "The YANKEES are a first-class organization on and off the field and we share strong ties and commitment to our community. The YANKEES broadcasts will perfectly complement our quality lineup of sports programming."
