CLEAR CHANNEL Classic Rock KUFX (99.5 K-FOX)/SAN JOSE has inked a multi-year extension of its contract to serve as the flagship for SAN JOSE SHARKS hockey. The deal includes play-by-play of all games plus a weekly SHARKS segment on GREG KIHN's morning show. DAN RUSANOWSKY, the longtime play-by-play voice of the SHARKS, will continue calling the action as well as hosting the pre- and post-game shows and a segment on weekday game afternoons. JAMIE BAKER will return as color commentator; BAKER, a former SHARKS center, joined the radio broadcasts in 2005.
"We are very excited to continue our long and excellent partnership with 98.5 K-FOX," said SHARKS EVP/Business Operations MALCOLM BORDELON. "K-FOX provides us with a great signal and an exceptional marketing partner. Most importantly, their audience provides an outstanding fit with the demographics of our existing fan base and those most likely to become SHARKS fans in the future."
"With SHARKS hockey, GREG KIHN in the morning, and the best Classic Rock anywhere, 98.5 K-FOX is a championship combination for SILICON VALLEY and the entire BAY AREA," said KUFX GM JUSTIN WITTMAYER. "We look forward to working together for many seasons to come."
"We are pleased to continue our long-standing relationship with the SAN JOSE SHARKS," added KUFX PD TIM JEFFREYS. "SHARKS hockey goes hand in hand with 98.5 K-FOX's Classic Rock format, and our advertisers and listeners always look forward to each hockey season."
