'16 Candles' Singer Johnny Maestro Passes

Doo-wop singer JOHNNY MAESTRO, best known for his vocal performance on THE CRESTS' 1958 hit. "16 Candles," has died of cancer in FLORIDA.. He was 70.
On top of his work with THE CRESTS in the 1950s, Maestro also performed with THE DEL-SATINS, them merged that group with The RHYTHM METHOD to form JOHNNY MAESTRO AND THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE in 1968.
Other hits MAESTRO sang on include "The Worst That Could Happen," "Blessed is the Rain," "Welcome Me Love" and "You'll Never Walk Alone."
