The "Technical Resource Enhancement Act," a bill that would amend the Communications Act to allow FCC Commissioners to add an engineer or computer scientist to their staffs, has been approved by the Senate Commerce Committee. The bill, S. 2881, addresses the need for technical consultation; commissioners are presently restricted to five staffers.
The bill is sponsored by Sens. OLYMPIA SNOWE (R-ME) and MARK WARNER (D-VA).
