House of Lords: U.K. Needs 'Scrappage Scheme' For Digital Radio

The U.K.'s House of Lords has weighted in on the nation's digital radio switchover, and the report says that the push to switch all radio to digital by 2015 needs a government program to replace analog radio receivers and inform the public of the changes or will face a consumer backlash.
Among the recommendations are that dealers inform radio buyers of the need to buy units with digital tuners and that the government "devise a sensible scrappage scheme, recognizing that the industry, manufacturers and retailers, will benefit heavily from the new sales generated by digital switchover."
