KWOF Pulls A Fast One On Its Listeners
April 1, 2010 at 2:39 PM (PT)
WILKS BROADCASTING Country KWOF (THE WOLF)/DENVER fooled its morning listeners, by announcing that GOVERNOR BILL RITTER had just signed a bill to reduce the COLORADO state speed limit to 55 mph, border to border. In return the state would receive $1 billion in road improvement over the next two years. It was supposedly part of a federally funded study with two other states, MINNESOTA and MISSISSIPPI, to determine if a lower speed limit would be more fuel efficient.
Residents of COLORADO were furious and called non-stop to state their opinion on Governor RITTER's decision for two straight hours. After The WOLF unveiled on the air that it was indeed an APRIL FOOLS joke, GOVERNOR RITTER called JONATHAN WILDE on the air to say that the station was in big trouble.
