APPLE's iPAD arrived in stores this weekend, and huge crowds descended over the weekend to buy it -- selling better than initial predictions. USA TODAY reports "GENE MUNSTER, an analyst with PIPER JAFFRAY, estimates first-day opening sales at between 600,000 to 700,000 units. He had projected sales of 200,000 to 300,000 originally."
"The lines were much longer than we anticipated," he says. "The hype really helped APPLE."
Radio has been prepping for it's arrival. NPR announced an iPAD optimized website last month (NET NEWS 3/17), while the CBS INTERACTIVE MUSIC GROUP rolled out their iPAD app last week (NET NEWS 4/2) .
Getting in on all the iPAD hype is automaker HYUNDAI, who will offer one free with the purchase of a new luxury EQUUS sedan -- which also features HD Radio.
