UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS Triple A-News KUT/AUSTIN has begun construction on a new state-of-the-art Broadcast Center that will house studios and extensive performance facilities. The Broadcast Center will encompass a 20,000-square-foot LEED-certified building at the AUSTIN BELO CENTER for New Media, which will expand the existing College of Communications.
It will also feature Studio 1A, a 72-seat glass walled space and an outdoor stage to accommodate the station's 300+ annual in-studio performances. KUT GM STEWART VANDERWILT said, "The building is really designed around community engagement to make this station a daily destination for people to come and be a part of musical experiences, civic forums and interact with KUT producers and hosts."
KUT has already raised $6 million of an $11 million campaign to pay for the new Broadcast Center. Completion is set for JUNE 2012.
