SBS PPM Encoders -- Back On?
April 14, 2010 at 4:16 AM (PT)
So, has SBS turned back on the PPM encoders in NEW YORK, LOS ANGELES, CHICAGO, SAN FRANCISCO and MIAMI? Apparently they have.
SBS Chief Revenue Officer and NEW YORK/Market Mgr. FRANK FLORES seemed to confirm rumors of an agreement between his company and ARBITRON when he told ALL ACCESS this morning, "We will be issuing a joint press release very soon."
YESTERDAY (NET NEWS 4/13), ALL ACCESS confirmed that SPANISH BROADCASTING SYSTEM and ARBITRON were close to settling their ongoing PPM fight. A spokesperson for ARBITRON would not comment, saying only "it's an ongoing negotiation."
On MARCH 31st, the on-again, off-again argument was off-again on SBS stations, as NEW YORK Supreme Court Judge SHIRLEY KORNREICH lifted her order forcing SBS to keep encoding PPM (NET NEWS 3/31), and the two sides were to appear before her again TOMORROW (4/15). Now, that meeting appears to have been cancelled in favor of out-of-court negotations.
