CELADOR has purchased PLAY RADIO, the commercial radio stations in SOUTHAMPTON and WINCHESTER, ENGLAND, for an undisclosed price, reports RADIO TODAY. PLAY RADIO went into administration last year, three months after PLAY took over the stations from TOWN AND COUNTRY BROADCASTING (as RADIO HAMPSHIRE), which had shut down the operation in MAY 2009. PLAY RADIO relaunched on JULY 4th of last year.
CELADOR, best known as a television and film production company (including "WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE?" and "SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE"), owns Triple A THE COAST/DORSET-HAMPSHIRE, which it bought from CANWEST in 2008.
