Buyer Found For WXEL/West Palm Beach

BARRY UNIVERSITY has found another buyer for its noncommercial News-Talk WXEL-F/WEST PALM BEACH, with the school's board approving a sale to CLASSICAL SOUTH FLORIDA (AMERICAN PUBLIC MEDIA GROUP) for $3.85 million in a deal yet to be filed with the FCC. The buyer owns noncommercial Classical WKCP/MIAMI and its translator W270AD/WEST PALM BEACH, and will keep the format and staff but change call letters.
BARRY continues to seek a buyer for PBS affiliate WXEL-TV; two previous attempts th sell the stations in the last five years, one to the owner of NEW YORK PBS affiliate WNET (TV) and another to the owner of MIAMI PBS affiliate WPBT (TV), fell through amidst public opposition.
In deals filed with the FCC, NEXTMEDIA is spinning Adult Hits WSSM (SAM 105.1)/HAVELOCK, NC off to EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION for $230,000. WSSM is one of three stations NEXTMEDIA is selling to comply with ownership caps as it emerges from bankruptcy.
EASTERN SIERRA BROADCASTING is selling the construction permit for KFOY-A/SPARKS, NV to TOM F. HUTH for $50,000. The seller's sole principal CHRIS KIDD died last JUNE 1st and administrator IRA LITTMAN is selling the CP to HUTH.
RADIO TRAINING NETWORK, INC. is selling FM translator W299AT/CORNELIA, GA to HABERSHAM BROADCASTING COMPANY, INC. for $40,000.
In silent STA filings, HARDWARE MONKEY has taken W257EQ/LOGAN, UT silent because it is "unable to obtain rebroadcast consent at this time and it is unlikely that a replacement program source can be obtained within 30 days"; and CALVARY CHAPEL OF TWIN FALLS, INC. has taken K266BG/EDMOND, OK off the air after being built and signed on for testing on APRIL 18th, awaiting combining equipment so it can be co-located with K208CG.
