COLUMBIA/NASHVILLE artist MIRANDA LAMBERT along with her MUTT NATION FOUNDATION raised over $91,000 during the “3rd Annual CAUSE FOR PAWS Event,” last weekend. GAC-TV’s NAN KELLEY hosted the event with over 800 people on hand.
PURINA CHEF MICHAEL CREATIONS was the main sponsor and the attendees enjoyed dinner and a concert from MIRANDA and her full band, along with NIGHTWORK, WHISKEY and KACEY MUSGRAVES. BLAKE SHELTON also made a surprise performance.
During the encore, LAMBERT surprised the crowd by inviting BLAKE onstage. She agreed to donate $2,800 for him to sing “Hillbilly Bone” and then invited the crowd to come up and donate more money as the couple sang together for “tips.” Over $1,000 was collected from the fans during the song.
“It is the best feeling in the world to know we are helping in the fight to treat and find homes for abandoned and abused animal,” said LAMBERT. “Since we started working with the HUMANE SOCIETY of EAST TEXAS over three years ago, we have donated over $325,000 and they have become a ‘no kill’ shelter. Every year it amazes me that people spend their hard-earned money to partner with us in this fight. I am very grateful.”
This year some of the proceeds were donated to animals affected by the NASHVILLE flood.
