Former CBS RADIO Sports WSCR-A (670 THE SCORE)/CHICAGO host MIKE MURPHY is suing CBS RADIO EAST INC. and INFINITY BROADCASTING OPERATIONS INC. over the company's noncompete clause, according to CRAIN'S CHICAGO BUSINESS. MURPHY, who exited WSCR last summer and whose contract ran out in MAY, alleges that the company's employment contracts violate ILLINOIS law by imposing geographic restrictions on where an employee can obtain other employment 90 days before leaving the company and six months after exiting.
MURPHY's contract barred him from jobs within 50 miles of the staton unless he offered himself under similar terms to CBS. The suit is styled as a class action representing all CBS employees with noncompetes in ILLINOIS since JANUARY 1, 2002.
