UNIVERSAL MUSIC PUBLISHING GROUP and EMI MUSIC GROUP PUBLISHING along with six other publishing companies have sued the file-sharing site LIMEWIRE for copyright infringement on a "massive scale."
This action follows a seperate lawsuit, in which LIMEWIRE received a brief reprieve of two weeks from the hangman's noose (NET NEWS 6/8), when U.S. District Judge KIMBA WOOD gave LIMEWIRE lawyers two weeks to respond to a motion filed FRIDAY by the music industry to close down LIMEWIRE.
The suit from the publishers was filed in MANHATTAN federal court in NEW YORK YESTERDAY (6/16).
