Veteran PORTLAND personality RICK EMERSON is back with two new shows streaming via PDX.FM.
EMERSON's new EMERSON NEWS NETWORK operation, headed by EMERSON and journalist DAWN TAYLOR, is debuting the two shows TODAY (6/21). "LEGION OF NEWS," described as "a one-hour distillation of life, the world and everything," will air live and free noon-1p (PT) weekdays. A 90-minute version of "THE RICK EMERSON SHOW" will follow 1-2:30p (ET) daily on a $6.99/month subscription basis. The subscription show, an online version of the show EMERSON hosted on terrestrial radio until his exit from ALPHA BROADCASTING Active Rock KUFO/PORTLAND in OCTOBER, is about "pop culture, PORTLAND culture, and the disproportionate impact of everyday irritations," according to EMERSON.
TAYLOR said that the subscription cost "works out to about 32 cents a day. What you're getting in exchange is freedom from format changes, management interference, or the fallout that accompanies corporate shakeups." EMERSON added, "The only person who should be able to cancel the show ... is you. The listener."
PDX.FM already streams a show by EMERSON's former KUFO colleagues CORT WEBBER and BOBBY "FATBOY" ROBERTS. The EMERSON NEWS NETWORK is sharing offices with EMERSON's former Producer SARAH X. DYLAN and Production Assistant GREG NIBLER, hosts of the online FUNEMPLOYMENT RADIO.
