The NBA's INDIANA PACERS are sticking with longtime radio partner EMMIS COMMUNICATIONS and moving to FM this season under a new long-term agreement. Specific terms of the new contract were not released. The PACERS broadcasts will move from Sports WFNI-A (AM 1070 THE FAN)/INDIANAPOLIS to sister Talk WIBC, and the WNBA's INDIANA FEVER will air on THE FAN. MARK BOYLE, the PACERS' voice for 23 years, and former PACERS coach BOB "SLICK" LEONARD, analyst for 26 seasons, will return to call the action.
“We are very pleased and grateful that our relationship with EMMIS is entering a new chapter,” said PACERS SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT President JIM MORRIS. “This relationship has special meaning for us because EMMIS was an original partner in building CONSECO FIELDHOUSE. Like us, they are a hometown company that shares our commitment to be an active partner in community life. They have been and will continue to be one of our finest business partners.”
“There are a few iconic relationships in INDIANAPOLIS sports and media history and WIBC's relationship with the INDIANA PACERS is without question, one of those,” EMMIS VP/Market Manager CHARLIE MORGAN said. “The extension of our relationship with the INDIANA PACERS is a foundational element of EMMIS' position as the local sports leader in INDIANAPOLIS.”
