The GRENAX cluster in FLAGSTAFF, AZ, which includes Top 40 KFLX (105.1 THE CANYON), Country KSED (107.5 KOLT COUNTRY) and Classic Rock KWMX (96.7 THE WOLF) are on the front lines with over 400 firefighters as they battle the wildfires that have been surrounding FLAGSTAFF since SATURDAY.
The stations began around-the-clock coverage on SATURDAY when the HARDY WILDFIRE consumed over 600 acres just two miles south of downtown FLAGSTAFF. Then, they expanded their coverage as a new, larger wildfire known as the SCHULTZ WILDFIRE broke out north of FLAGSTAFF. That fire has drawn national news coverage, and consumed well over 8,000 acres.
The GRENAX stations have been consistently updating residents on what they need in case they are asked to evacuate their neighborhood. Ops Director DAN BAISDEN told ALL ACCESS, “This is why local radio is so important today, even in the technology age. We have had hundreds of phone calls from displaced residents asking for vital information. We even became a pet shelter hotline for residents who needed to find a home for their pets during the evacuation times.”
