THE RECORDING ACADEMY has changed a GRAMMY AWARDS rule that prevented LADY GAGA from being nominated as Best New Artist for this year’s awards, writes THE NEW YORK TIMES, citing an ASSOCIATED PRESS report.
LADY GAGA is likely to have easily won the best new artist GRAMMY in 2010, except that her song "Just Dance" was nominated in the best dance recording category in 2009, making her ineligible in the new artist category for 2010.
The new ruling from THE RECORDING ACADEMY, is that previous GRAMMY nominees could be eligible for the new artist award as long as they haven’t released full albums or won any GRAMMY AWARDS.
