CLEAR CHANNEL has donated two more AM stations to the MINORITY MEDIA AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS COUNCIL through the MMTC-CLEAR CHANNEL Ownership Diversity Initiative.
The additional stations being donated are Sports KFXN-A (SCORE 690)/MINNEAPOLIS, a daytimer that recently lost its ESPN affiliation to crosstown HUBBARD Sports KSTP-A (1500 ESPN) and carries FOX SPORTS RADIO, SPORTING NEWS RADIO, and PREMIERE's JIM ROME; and Oldies WTOC-A (TRUE OLDIES 1360)/NEWTON, NJ, which was placed into the ALOHA STATION TRUST for spinoff to allow CLEAR CHANNEL to remain within ownership limits in the SUSSEX COUNTY market.
"By donating these two additional stations, we're helping to create more opportunities for those who want to excel in the radio industry," said JOHN HOGAN, President and CEO of CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO.
Previously announced were the donations of Silent KYHN-A/FORT SMITH, AR, Sports WYNF-A (ESPN RADIO 1380)/NORTH AUGUSTA, SC (which will be awarded to SHANNON RENEE DEMEDICIS' MEDICI MEDIA, INC.), Silent KMFX-A/ROCHESTER, MN, and Silent WHJA-A/LAUREL, MS (being awarded to JEFFREY HEDGEMAN's FULL SPECTRUM BROADCASTING).
"SHANNON and JEFFREY have demonstrated exceptional work and decades of experience in media and broadcasting," said DAVID HONIG, President and Executive Director of MMTC. "We're confident that, with the resources provided by CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO and MMTC's cooperation with the NAB EDUCATION FOUNDATION, we can further support SHANNON and JEFFREY so that they can provide a meaningful resource for news and entertainment to their communities. We're excited to continue our work with CLEAR CHANNEL to progress diversity in broadcasting."
