Senate Campaign Finance Bill Drops Provision Affecting Radio

Among amendments to Sen, CHARLES SCHUMER (D-NY)'s "Disclose Act" campaign finance bill is one taking shorter radio spots out of a provision requiring businesses and groups to state their geographic locations in political radio ads.
THE HILL reports that shorter radio spots are being exempted from the provision because it would add length to the disclaimer while TV ads can give the information in a visual manner.
SCHUMER's revisions, including dropping a provision requiring that businesses, unions and groups disclose transfers to or from or between their affiliates of $50,000 or more that exempted most union activity, are aimed at convincing Republican moderates, specifically Sens. OLYMPIA SNOWE and SUSAN COLLINS (R-ME), to support the bill.
