Country artist and LOUSIANA native SAMMY KERSHAW is the Honorary Chair for NEW ORLEANS SAINTS head coach SEAN PAYTON’s second BLACK AND GOLD GALA on OCTOBER 1st at the SUPERDOME in NEW ORLEANS. The gala benefits PAYTON’S PLAY IT FORWARD FOUNDATION (PPIFF), created by PAYTON and his wife in 2008. The foundation’s mission is to raise funds and awareness for organizations working with families and children in the areas of health, education, and social welfare.
Funds raised during the gala will be distributed to FEED THE CHILDREN, which will provide semi trucks full of food to many organizations in the GULF COAST region, and the DR. PHIL FOUNDATION, helping families and children in need along the GULF COAST. A special donation will be made to PROTECTOURCOASTLINE.ORG in honor of KERSHAW. In addition, some proceeds will be awarded to smaller organizations in the area.
PAYTON, KERSHAW, members and players of the SAINTS’ organization and musical group BETTER THAN EZRA are set to participate in the event. The event will include both silent and live auctions, seated dinner and entertainment. A limited number of sponsorships and individual tickets are available.
KERSHAW said: “I am truly humbled to be selected as this year’s Honorary Chair. SEAN and I share the same passion for the people of LOUISIANA and are we are willing to do whatever we can to see our state and its people recover from yet another devastating tragedy. I look forward to working together to raise money for those who have been hit the hardest by the oil spill in the GULF. I am incredibly grateful for the donation PAYTON’S PLAY IT FORWARD FOUNDATION will make to PROTECTOURCOASTLINE.ORG in my name and I remain committed to using every resource available to lend a helping hand to LOUISIANA’s people.”
