Ohana: KMKK Isn't Dropping Local News, Ads
July 30, 2010 at 4:32 AM (PT)
OHANA BROADCAST COMPANY Dir./Programming RICK THOMAS has issued a statement disputing previous reports in the MOLOKA'I NEWS that the company's Hawaiian KMKK(HAWAII'S NA MELE 102.3)/KAUNAKAKAI, MOLOKA'I, HI has dropped local news and ads.
THOMAS said that "KMKK terminated its relationship with DAVID LICHTENSTEIN and the MOLOKA'I NEWS due to a differing vision of what professional sounding community news should sound like on a Hawaiian music format. Our commitment to community information and service remains strong. The 'change' was the reporter. Meanwhile, ZHAN DUDOIT, 'THE MOLOKA'I PRINCESS' has been retained as host and public affairs liaison on MOLOKA'I.
"The article, self-authored by Mr. LICHTENSTEIN, also incorrectly claims KMKK will not accept advertising from MOLOKA'I businesses. This is untrue."
