DR. LAURA SCHLESSINGER told the LOS ANGELES TIMES that she had decided to leave her radio show on FRIDAY, three days after the "n-word" episode that touched off the controversy leading to her exit and four days before her announcement on CNN's "LARRY KING LIVE."
"I was just sitting here, looking over the ocean," she told the TIMES' STEVE CARNEY. "It was sort of a peaceful wave of awareness -- an inner voice just said, 'We're done with this.' The second it came over me, I felt very energized."
CARNEY also spoke to CBS RADIO Talk KFWB-A/LOS ANGELES PD ANDY LUDLUM, whose station airs DR. LAURA's TAKE ON THE DAY LLC/TALK RADIO NETWORK show and who faces the task of finding a replacement. "She didn't discuss it with us beforehand," he said, adding, "We're looking at the whole situation. We're weighing our options."
