Yet Another FCC Extension For Sirius XM Channel Leasing Commitment
August 20, 2010 at 10:14 AM (PT)
The FCC's Media Bureau has granted yet another extension to SIRIUS XM RADIO for implementation of the "voluntary" leasing of 4% of its channels to "qualified entities." The Media Bureau has previously extended the deadline and has done so, once again on its own motion, until NOVEMBER 21st. The most recent extension gave the company until AUGUST 23rd to comply.
The extensions are being granted while the FCC considers exactly how to implement the leasing requirements, which were imposed as part of the SIRIUS XM merger.
