MID-WEST FAMILY BROADCASTING Pres./GM KEVAN KAVANAUGH has announced significant promotions and a staff addition to the four stations they own in SPRINGFIELD, IL.
SUSAN GROVES, who had served as OM and PD for the three FMs in the group has been promoted to OM for the four-station cluster (News-Talk WMAY-A; Rock WQLZ; Lite Rock WNNS; Triple A WLCE) -- plus remains as PD for WQLK and an on-air talent at WLCE (ALICE 97.7). She will also continue to be instrumental in major station and cluster promotions.
JIM LEACH, who had served as News & Program Director (plus morning show host and Promotions Director) of WMAY, is promoted to News Director of the four-station cluster, and continues as PD of WMAY.
JOSIE O’DONNELL, who served as APD of ALICE (plus mornings & promotions), is promoted to PD.
CHRIS MURPHY joins the company as Assistant OM of all four stations, PD of WNNS, APD of WMAY, and will do afternoons on WNNS plus news anchoring on WMAY. MURPHY had worked for MID-WEST from 1995 until 2006, and was PD of WMAY for much of that time.
"For the first time in a long time, each of our four radio stations will now have its own Program Director," said KAVANAUGH. "This will allow each station to receive the programming focus that it deserves, with oversight and assistance from SUSAN and CHRIS, and news and weather focus from JIM."
