Former AUSTEREO CEO MICHAEL ANDERSON and former journalist and current TOURISM VICTORIA CEO GREG HYWOOD have been named independent directors of Australian media giant FAIRFAX MEDIA.
The addition of ANDERSON and HYWOOD to the FAIRFAX board are the fourth and fifth new appointments to the board in the last year, following the departure of former Chairman RON WALKER and the appointment of ROGER CORBETT to the Chair. SAM MORGAN, SANDRA MCPHEE and LINDA NICHOLLS were earlier appointed to the board.
FAIRFAX owns the SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, MELBOURNE AGE, and several other newspapers; radio stations in several markets, including SYDNEY, MELBOURNE, BRISBANE, and PERTH; and magazines and digital assets. It also owns newspapers and magazines in NEW ZEALAND and several agricultural magazines in the U.S.
