Former UNIV. OF FLORIDA football radio Network Coordinator STEVE BABIK has been sentenced to 12 years in prison followed by supervised release for life after pleading guilty to a charge of receipt and distribution of child pornography.
BABIK, who pleaded not guilty in JANUARY and faced 20 years and a $250,000 fine on the distribution charge and an additional $250,000 fine on a possession charge, changed his plea in APRIL in a plea bargain that saw the prosecution drop the possession charge.
BABIK had been with the GATOR program for 20 years and hosted the "TAILGATOR" pre-game show and coach URBAN MEYER's post-game show on the network. He was accused by prosecutors of making 326 kiddie porn files available for distribution from his home computer between JUNE 2008 and NOVEMBER 2009.
