ESPN Finds New Home In San Diego
October 5, 2010 at 10:55 AM (PT)
As widely predicted in the market, BROADCAST COMPANY OF THE AMERICAS Talk XEPE-A (SAN DIEGO 1700)/TECATE-SAN DIEGO is picking up the ESPN RADIO affiliation formerly held by crosstown MEC/CADENA BAJA CALIFORNIA Sports XHMORE (98.9 ESPN)/TIJUANA-SAN DIEGO, which has flipped back to "Rock en Espanol" as MORE FM 98.9.
XEPE will air ESPN RADIO programming as ESPN 1700 starting OCTOBER 6th. The station will also continue to air financial programming as well; the station had been partially simulcasting sister Sports XEPRS-A (XX 1090) in morning drive and noon-10p (PT) while splitting off for RAY LUCIA's 9a-noon financial advice show and "MR. CREDIT" noon-1p.
"We are extremely excited to add AMERICA's leading Sports network to our programming lineup", said BCA VP Programming/Operations JACK EVANS. "This will not only solidify BCA's brand ownership of sports in SAN DIEGO COUNTY, it provides superior content for our local sports talk station XX 1090."
"While continuing to simulcast SAN DIEGO PADRES games (with XX 1090), the addition of ESPN will give us the opportunity to present selected play by play coverage of the MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL playoffs and the World Series on ESPN 1700", said EVANS.
