UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP has agreed to license its content to eMUSIC in the U.S. The move makes UMG the 3rd major label to sign an agreement with eMUSIC, with WARNER MUSIC and SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT already on board. It originally launched with a specific focus on independent music.
CEO ADAM KLEIN estimates the deal with UNIVERSAL will add 250,000 new tracks to his company's offerings.
eMUSIC is also revising its pricing and allowing labels to charge between $0.49 and $0.89 per track.
