Citadel/Baton Rouge Pair Fined By FCC For Public File Problems

Two CITADEL stations have been fined a combined $8,000 by the FCC for failure to properly maintain their public files.
CITADEL said on the 2004 renewal applications for now-silent WIBR-A/BATON ROUGE and Urban WEMX (MAX 94.1)/KENTWOOD-BATON ROUGE that certain issues/programs lists were missing from the stations' public files. The lists, CITADEL stated, had been recreated and placed in the files, and the company assured the Commission that "steps had been taken to assure that in the future all quarterly lists are timely prepared and placed in the public files."
The FCC initially proposed an $18,000 fine in 2004, and reduced the total to $8,000 because some of the missing lists were from prior to the company's 2001 acquisition of the stations.
