DR. DEAN EDELL has announced his retirement from radio. EDELL will end his show as of DECEMBER 31st after what he estimated at about 5.000 shows.
The PREMIERE RADIO NETWORKS and CITADEL Talk KGO-A/SAN FRANCISCO host told his audience on WEDNESDAY's show that "I've made an extremely difficult decision, as all major life decisions are, and I guess I'll get right to it and say it -- I am retiring." EDELL said "I'm throwing in the towel," adding that he had mixed emotions about the move, but is excited about the ability to spend more time with his children and grandchildren.
PREMIERE President, Content and Affiliate Relations JULIE TALBOTT said, "We've had an incredibly prosperous partnership with DR. DEAN EDELL for many years. As host of the most successful medical show in radio history, DR. DEAN has informed and entertained millions of fans with his trademark wit, compassion, intelligence and expertise. While we're sad to see DR. DEAN leave radio, we wish him all the best as he starts this new chapter of his life."
EDELL was recently dropped from KGO's weekday schedule and relegated to weekends effective next week.
