Clear Channel Sells Virginia AM

CLEAR CHANNEL's CAPSTAR TX LLC has filed the paperwork to sell Silent WLVE-A/WINCHESTER, VA to WINCHESTER RADIO BROADCASTERS, LLC for $5,000. The assignee is headed by veteran radio engineer TED SCHOBER as Chief Executive Manager, who has an interest in two NEW JERSEY translators and applications for a new AM at ENOLA, PA and several FM translator applications in NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK, and PENNSYLVANIA. The station was previously part of the plan by which CLEAR CHANNEL was to donate several AMs to the MINORITY MEDIA AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS COUNCIL as part of the MMTC-CLEAR CHANNEL Ownership Diversity Initiative, but was not among the stations when the donations were filed with the FCC.
In other deals filed with the FCC, WILLOW FARM, INC. is selling WNSH-A/BEVERLY, MA to COSTA-EAGLE RADIO VENTURES L.P. for $400,000 plus a time brokerage agreement before closing, under which COSTA-EAGLE recently launched a simulcast of its Spanish Tropical WNNW-A (POWER 800)/LAWRENCE, MA.
After a delay of several months, BARRY UNIVERSITY has finally filed the paperwork with the FCC to transfer noncommercial News-Talk WXEL-F/WEST PALM BEACH to CLASSICAL SOUTH FLORIDA (AMERICAN PUBLIC MEDIA GROUP) for $4.05 million. The deal, initially announced at $3.85 million, was approved by the school's board in APRIL 2010 after a long and contentious period during which attempts to sell the school's radio station and PBS affiliate WXEL-TV/WEST PALM BEACH encountered furious opposition from local groups. The buyer, part of the AMERICAN PUBLIC MEDIA-MINNESOTA PUBLIC RADIO group, owns adjacent-market noncommercial Classical WKCP/MIAMI and its translator W270AD/WEST PALM BEACH.
OCEAN SIDE BROADCASTING, INC. is selling the construction permit for KGCV/ELK MOUNTAIN, WY to VIC MICHAEL's CEDAR COVE BROADCASTING for $5,000, and ACADEMY MEDIA INC. is selling the CP for noncommercial KAVI/ALAMOSA, CO to CEDAR COVE for $60,000.
NATURE COAST BROADCASTING, INC., licensee of WYKE-F (formerly Talk WOGF (FRANK 104))/INGLIS, FL, which was recently subject to a filing to put the station under receivership of BURT SHERWOOD, has filed now for debtor-in-possession status under President SABATINO CUPELLI. NATURE COAST filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy status on DECEMBER 21st, listing $692,161 of debts and $612,000 in assets. Meanwhile, SHERWOOD has applied to take the station back into receivership, pursuant to a court order and objecting to SABATELLI's motion to dismiss a previous filing.
HIGH DESERT BROADCASTING LLC is assigning Classic Hits KMVE (CLASSIC TOP 40 106.9 FM)/CALIFORNIA CITY, CA to KEITH YOKOMOTO's MOJAVE RADIO LLC. for $100 plus assumption of agreements.
DENNIS JACKSON is selling FM translator W297AN/DANBURY, CT to THE BERKSHIRE BROADCASTING CORPORATION for $175,000. The translator will rebroadcast Oldies WREF-A (OLDIES 850)/RIDGEFIELD, CT.
WOMAN'S WORLD BROADCASTING, INC. is selling WZOT-A/ROCKMART, GA to ROME RADIO PARTNERS, LLC for $125,000.
ANDREW and CRAIG SKOTDAL are buying their parents ARTHUR and MARIANNE SKOTDAL's 50% interest in S-R BROADCASTING, licensee of Sports KRKO-A/EVERETT, WA, for $291,202.38 each. ANDREW and CRAIG will each end up with 50% of the company after the transaction.
NORTHEAST GOSPEL BROADCASTING, INC. is selling FM translator W240BA/CANAJOHARIE, NY to 930 AM WIZR RADIO, LLC for $30,000. The translator will rebroadcast the buyer's Country WIZR-A/JOHNSTOWN, NY.
JOHN M. TORRES has swapped FM translator W236AG/FOND DU LAC, WI to CARL R. GUSE's CRG, LLC for FM translator W277AC/WATERTOWN, WI.
CALVARY IOWA CITY is selling the construction permit for a new noncommercial FM at WEBSTER, IA to EDGEWATER BROADCASTING for $100. EDGEWATER's sister RADIO ASSIST MINISTRY, INC. is selling FM translator K248BF/COVINGTON, LA-NEW ORLEANS to SPOTLIGHT BROADCASTING OF NEW ORLEANS, LLC. for $34,000.
MEDIA FOR AMERICAN VALUES, INC. has applied for a silent STA for FM translator W207AZ/ST. AUGUSTINE, FL due to loss of site.
DAVID CARUS AND ASSOCIATES has applied for a Silent STA for FM translator W264AS/ROCKLEDGE, FL due to programming issues.
And KM RADIO OF INDEPENDENCE, L.L.C. has applied for a Silent STA for KQMG/INDEPENDENCE, IA due to a transmitter failure.
Also, SAN JOAQUIN BROADCASTING CO. has closed on the sale of Contemporary Christian KLVS (K-LOVE)/STOCKTON, CA to EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION for $10 million in stock. GREG GUY of PATRICK COMMUNICATIONS served as broker for the deal.
And CAPITOL BROADCASTING COMPANY's SUNRISE BROADCASTING, LLC subsidiary has closed on the sale of former Alternative WSFM (SURF 98.3 FM)/WILMINGTON, NC to SEA-COMM for $825,000. SEA-COMM had sold WSFM to NEXT MEDIA in 2005; it has moved Triple A WUIN (106.7 THE PENGUIN) to WSFM's 98.3 FM frequency and has swapped WUIN's old 106.7 slot to CAROLINA CHRISTIAN RADIO for daytimer WMYT-A/CAROLINA BEACH plus $150,000. JOHN CUNNEY of PATRICK COMMUNICATIONS served as broker for the seller in the WSFM deal.
