The third quarter of 2010 was the third straight quarter of growth according to a report from KANTAR MEDIA. "Ad spending picked up at a quickening pace, with new figures showing a steady recovery after the 2009 downturn, when overall U.S. ad spending dropped 12.3%.
YESTERDAY's release from KANTAR showed ad spending up 8.7% over Q3 of 2009. That follows a Q2 gain of 5.4% and a Q1 jump of 5.1%.
KANTAR SVP/Research JON SWALLEN credited the increases to smaller companies beginning to advertise again. "Having fewer resources, this segment was previously cautious about raising budgets."
TV showed the strongest gains, with spending on Internet display ads up 7.7%. Radio gained 6.2%.
