KKBQ's Kevin Kline Is The Forrest Gump Of 2011
January 5, 2011 at 7:47 AM (PT)
Congratulations to COX Country KKBQ/HOUSTON morning personality KEVIN KLINE, who ran over 90 miles to raise money and awareness in the fight against cancer. KEVIN told ALL ACCESS that at noon (CT) on DECEMBER 31st, 2010, he started running on a treadmill for 24 continuous hours. At noon (CT) on JANUARY 1st, 2011, KEVIN got off the treadmill after 77.05 miles! After that he began a half-marathon, 13.1 miles into the TEXAS CHILDREN’s CANCER CENTER. When he finished he had logged 90.15 miles in 26 hours and 45 minutes.
“The goal was to raise awareness for SNOWDROP FOUNDATION, said KLINE. “It’s a non-profit organization that my wife and I started in 2006 to benefit pediatric cancer patients. On top of raising awareness, we endeavored to raise $50,000. Right now we're just shy of $20,000 raised.”
Last year, through “STRIDES ACROSS TEXAS,” KLINE ran 470 miles over 13 days. That’s a marathon-and-a-half (about 40 miles) a day. There will also be a documentary released in the next couple of months based on KLINE’s running against cancer, and if that were not enough, in DECEMBER, 2011, he will attempt to break the GUINNESS WORLD RECORD between DECEMBER 26th, 2011 and JANUARY 1st, 2012.
