As ALL ACCESS asked in DECEMBER (NET NEWS 12/8/2010), with DOUG MORRIS' end-of-the-year exit from the CEO post at UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP approaches, is the veteran music industry leader talking to SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT about taking the reins there?
Yes, says BLOOMBERG NEWS, reporting MORRIS "is seeking an early end to his contract from parent VIVENDI SA in order to join SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT, three people with knowledge of the situation said. MORRIS, 72, who has led the world’s largest record company since 1995, is in talks with SONY CORP. for the top post at its music division, said the people, who insisted on anonymity because the discussions are private."
If MORRIS moved over to 550 MADISON AVE., it would be to replace the retiring ROLF SCHMIDT-HOLTZ.
