Dean Singleton Steps Down As MediaNews CEO

A management shakeup at newspaper publisher MEDIANEWS GROUP includes CEO WILLIAM DEAN SINGLETON stepping down from his post to become Executive Chairman, remaining Chairman and Publisher of the DENVER POST.
In addition, Pres. JOSEPH (JODY) LODOVIC has retired, and all Class A board members have exited. GORDON A. PARIS will serve as interim President while a search for new top management is conducted.
The WALL STREET JOURNAL is reporting that the company, whose parent company AFFILIATED MEDIA INC. filed for bankruptcy last year and emerged in MARCH, may be merged with other newspaper companies in which investment firm ALDEN GLOBAL CAPITAL has a stake, possibly including FREEDOM COMMUNICATIONS, owner of the ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, JOURNAL REGISTER CO., and the PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER and DAILY NEWS. MEDIANEWS placed its radio stations -- Classic Hits KWKQ (KOOL 94.7) and Country KSWA-A/GRAHAM, TX and Oldies KROO-A and Country KLXK (K-LAKES)/BRECKENRIDGE, TX, owned through GRAHAM NEWSPAPERS, INC. -- into a liquidating trust to sell off the properties in JANUARY 2010.
