Everyone at ALL ACCESS is very saddened to report the passing of the legendary BOBBY POE, SR., aka THE POE KAT, over the weekend (1/22) from a blood clot. He was 77 and had been battling throat cancer for the past two years.
BOBBY was the publisher of WASHINGTON, DC-based "THE POP MUSIC SURVEY" which began in 1968 and played host to the annual POP MUSIC SURVEY CONVENTION, an annual gathering of the radio and record communities for meetings, fun and awards. The emphasis was on fun -- at a time when everything was a lot more fun. The POP MUSIC SURVEY CONVENTION ran for 25 successful years until POE's retirement in 1996.
ALL ACCESS President & Publisher JOEL DENVER recalled the POE KAT. "I got into radio in 1968 at WINX-A/ROCKVILLE, MD and BOBBY POE was a local DC icon. We'll miss you, BOBBY. You gave of your heart freely to all, and brought fun and a way of networking that were among the most exciting ever in our business. You gave so many of us an early spotlight and recognition. The POP MUSIC SURVEY CONVENTION was a springboard for many of us. I truly feel blessed to have known you for so many years and grateful for your friendship and help. Rest In Peace!"

Memorial services for BOBBY will be held at the FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH, 102 West 4th Street, in GROVE, OK, on THURSDAY (1/27) at 2p. DR. WAYNE SHAW will officiate.
BOBBY will be cremated. Services are under the direction of ELLIS FAMILY FUNERAL HOME. Friends and family may leave online condolences by viewing BOBBY's obituary at www.ellisfuneralhome.com.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation be made in POE's name to THE BOGART PEDIATRIC CANCER RESEARCH PROGRAM.
