The TENNESSEAN is reporting that the NASHVILLE MUSIC COUNCIL is teaming up with the NASHVILLE ENTREPRENEUR CENTER to help launch digital media and entertainment company start-ups. The partnership will provide local music business entrepreneurs with training, office space, startup capital and mentors like ASCAP VP TIM DuBOIS and former SONY MUSIC NASHVILLE Chairman JOE GALANTE.
NASHVILLE ENTREPRENEUR CENTER Pres. MICHAEL BURCHAM initially expects to work with 50 music-oriented start-ups in the first half of 2011 and hopes to bring business owners from outside of NASHVILLE into MUSIC CITY.
BURCHAM said: "My guess is we'll end up with a collection of start-ups that reflect the music business that's already here. As word gets out I think we're going to attract a lot of other entrepreneurs who would never have thought about launching their businesses here."
