January 24, 2011 at 8:07 AM (PT)
CLEAR CHANNEL Urban Oldies WQJQ (Q105.1)/JACKSON, MS began stunting FRIDAY (1/14) at 5p with "All BEATLES All The Time, the New Fab 105." The FAB FOUR gave way to a new Oldies station TODAY, with news calls (WJDX) and a new positioner, OLDIES 105.1.
Said OM STEVE KELLY, "At 7a this morning, we re-launched 105.1 as 'OLDIES 105.1, WJDX-FM,' going back to a traditional mainstream '60s-'70s hits approach. The WJDX calls are significant, because 62JDX-AM was the market leading pop culture station in that era. All new imaging, voice guy, jingles, calls, station name ... and new staff to come. This week we are launching the station with 5,000 songs in a row, commercial-free. The new on-air lineup will appear on MONDAY the 31st starting at 6a."
Departing the old on-air lineup, but still in the building in other capacities, are morning dude MIKE BRIDGES, middayer JIM FOX and afternooner/PD JAN MICHAELS.
