Jill Gets Dumped On Valentines Day, Hello 'Playlist 92.7'
February 17, 2011 at 5:24 PM (PT)
AMATURO AC quadcast KHJL (JILL-FM)/VENTURA COUNTRY, CA has unveiled a new brand, transitioning to the name "PLAYLIST 92.7" and promising "SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA's biggest playlist." The station broadcasts on four separate 92.7 frequencies -- KJLL/FOUNTAIN VALLEY, KHJL/THOUSAND OAKS, KHJL-1/MALIBU and KAJL/ADELANTO, CA.
OM/PD RICK SHAW said, "This isn’t so much a format change as a format expansion. Market research told us that our existing target of Women 25-54 wanted an extra wide variety of eras and styles -- everything from '70s classics to today’s hits. So along with our consultant ALAN BURNS, we’ve put together a big playlist that will help us fill that demand and build on the audience that has been increasing over the last six months."
"We’re excited about this new brand," said PLAYLIST 92.7 GM MATTHEW RODRIGUEZ. "From the research we’ve seen we know that both listeners and advertisers will love it. It’s very hard to find a 'hole' in the L.A. market, but we feel PLAYLIST 92.7 has found and filled one."
BURNS commented that, "It's deep and it’s wide, but where we radio people hear train wrecks, consumers are telling us they’re just hearing songs they like." BURNS also noted that, "This marks the first use of the word 'PLAYLIST' as a radio station name in AMERICA, if not the world. It’s how people in this century refer to their music."
AMATURO and BURNS have service-marked the name "PLAYLIST" and will be offering it for license to other radio stations.
Two voices have just been added to the station; KELI is female voice and AJ is male voice. KELI can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org, while AJ can be reached at www.GetAJ.com and email@example.com.
