WBAP To Give War Hero New Home Tuesday
February 21, 2011 at 4:27 AM (PT)
After a year of work, CITADEL Talk WBAP-A-F/DALLAS is about to hand the keys to a brand new house for JOHNNY WILSON, a veteran of the IRAQ WAR whose family faced numerous challenges. Morning host HAL JAY will give WILSON the keys to his family's new house in a live broadcast from the house in ARLINGTON on TUESDAY (2/22).
WILSON lost his leg to an IED in 2005 and suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. His wife ELIZABETH suffered a brain-stem stroke in 2009 and is in a wheelchair, and his in-laws, with whom his family lives, ran into trouble when the economy took its toll on his father-in-law's home inspection business. WBAP awarded the WILSONS a new house in partnership with the BAY AREA BUILDERS ASSOCIATION, the TEXAS SENTINELS FOUNDATION, MIKE MCKELLOP of SIERRA FINE CUSTOM HOMES, PINTO FRAMING, GALLAWAY PLUMBING, REMAX OF TEXAS, QHOME DESIGNS, and other groups, and the home has been under construction for the past year.
