The WALL STREET JOURNAL RADIO NETWORK will debut an afternoon show, "THE DAILY WRAP FROM THE WALL STREET JOURNAL WITH MICHAEL CASTNER," this SPRING. The show will air 6-9p (ET) live weeknights from the JOURNAL's NEW YORK headquarters, hosted by CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WRNO (RUSH RADIO 99.5)/NEW ORLEANS morning "CASTNER AND CARTY" co-host and Talk WJBO-A/BATON ROUGE afternoon host MICHAEL CASTNER.
"THE DAILY WRAP will showcase the breadth and depth of reporting and resources from across DOW JONES and THE WALL STREET JOURNAL to serve high-quality news and analysis, interviews and opinion across myriad topics," said Executive Director NANCY ABRAMSON. "The show will complement the JOURNAL brand -- expanded content and scope, fascinating stories and new ideas -- and provide an exciting new opportunity and alignment for advertisers."
"MICHAEL CASTNER is a rising star in tTalk radio and will bring his unique voice and versatile skills to the mix for a compelling broadcast in a tone the audience will love," added ABRAMSON.
"My goal for the show is to quickly and informally capture the essence of the day's top issues," said CASTNER, whose experience includes stops at KFI-A/LOS ANGELES and KSL-A-F/SALT LAKE CITY. "I'll be talking with reporters and opinion leaders who will share information and observations. We'll look for unique details through conversation, not confrontation."
"MICHAEL has real insight, intelligence and irreverence," said GABE HOBBS, president of GABE HOBBS MEDIA, whose firm is serving as a consultant for the show. "I am excited that he will be tapping into journalism's biggest brain trust at the JOURNAL. I think he will bring something different to Talk radio... something smarter ... something more humorous -- and if I can use the phrase, something more 'civil' that will appeal to the next generation of Talk radio listeners."
