CITADEL Classic Rock WLAV/GRAND RAPIDS morning fixture ED "UNCLE BUCK" BUCHANAN is stepping away from the 3a alarm clock noise -- but isn’t retiring completely just yet. MLIVE.COM reports FRIDAY (3/11) will be UNCLE BUCK's last day as part of the the KEVIN MATTHEWS morning show.
"I’m tired of getting up at three in the morning every day. I’ve been doing that a long time," said BUCHANAN. "I’ve been doing radio in this market since 1967. So, you know, it’s time to start slowin’ down a little bit."
He will, however, fill in when necessary, and launch "Breakfast in the Basement with UNCLE BUCK" from 7-9a on SUNDAYS.
"Yes, I’ll be here live, kids. It’s not recorded. I will answer the phone. So they can still harass me," said BUCHANAN. "This is my home. This is my spot."
